Bryan Acklin joined Andrews Myers as an attorney in November 2021. His practice is devoted to business litigation and construction-related litigation matters. He has participated in over 75 trials during his career.

Prior to joining the firm, Bryan founded his own civil litigation practice. He was also an assistant district attorney in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, where he gained vast experience in jury trials, representing both the county and the State of Texas over the course of four years.

Representative Experience

  • Successfully represented a client in district court, drafting and filing an answer, including a cross-claim, and handling all matters related to discovery, the outcome was the plaintiff’s agreement to non-suit her case.
  • Represented a client sued by the State of Texas in an asset forfeiture case, handling all matters related to discovery, including defending client’s depositions, and achieving a successful resolution for the client.
  • Successfully represented clients in mediation.
  • Managed discovery in civil suits as the plaintiff and as the defendant. Cases included breach of contract, civil asset forfeiture, and other tort claims.
  • Successfully represented an expelled college athlete in a Title IX hearing.
  • Successfully represented a client accused of defrauding the Texas Health and Human Services in an administrative proceeding, obtaining a finding of no liability.
  • Successfully represented a client who had been terminated from the Houston Independent School District and denied the opportunity to be rehired. The outcome permitted the client to be rehired and resume coaching and teaching duties.
  • Experienced in handling civil and criminal cases from intake to resolution, including settlements, jury trials, plea bargains, and dismissals.
  • Personally tried more than 35 cases to a jury, only losing once as a prosecutor and once as a defense attorney. Trial preparation included drafting and replying to motions, meeting with expert witnesses, preparing witnesses to testify, and supervising production of trial demonstratives.
  • Selected more than 60 juries through the voir dire process.
  • Jury trial experience included voir dire, giving opening statements, conducting direct examinations, conducting cross examinations, arguing motions, and delivering closing arguments.
  • Represented clients and the State of Texas in more than 30 hearings.
  • Supervised junior attorneys in more than 30 jury trials, offering guidance and trial strategy.
