Port of Houston Ship Channel

Andrews Myers represented one of the largest ports in the United States, which is located on the Gulf Coast and handles approximately two-thirds of all containerized cargo in the Gulf of Mexico.  The client’s facilities span a 25-mile-long complex comprised of 200-plus private and public industrial terminals. The client, in coordination with the U.S. federal government, private industry and state and local authorities and organizations, is in the process of deepening and widening a primary ship channel which enables access to the above referenced terminals and facilities while achieving traffic, transportation, safety and economic benefits.  The project’s original construction cost was estimated at approximately $1 billion, and the firm was retained to provide advice in connection with construction contract documents and issues that have arisen during construction.  To date the firm has assisted the client in preparing, negotiating and awarding contracts valued at approximately $630 million.
