Scott McKaig’s practice is devoted to commercial real estate and commercial transactions. His real estate practice covers all aspects of the process of buying, owning, developing, financing, leasing, and selling commercial real estate, as well as entity formation, organizational structuring, and guidance in connection with the same. He often takes a team-based approach with his clients to tackle the numerous legal and business matters and obstacles relating to various development projects, so that his clients do not just know what is being recommended, but why. Scott also has significant experience in negotiating and drafting public and private easements.

Representative Experience
- Represented Sysco Corporation and its affiliates with numerous leasing (as both landlord and tenant) and easement matters, as well as numerous dispositions of various real estate assets.
- Represented Virgata Property Company in the acquisition, development, leasing, and sale of multiple projects throughout Texas
- Represented The Marcel Group in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing, and sale of various multi-tenant commercial and office facilities throughout Texas involving several hundred thousand square feet in the aggregate
- Represented both developers and builders in connection with the development of large, residential subdivisions in the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area and elsewhere throughout Texas
- Represented ProEnergy and WattBridge with multiple power plant projects, including land acquisitions, entitlements, and negotiations with public and private entities for the various land use and easements rights necessary to develop such projects
- Represented a client in the sale of eleven Optometry locations throughout Texas, which included both owned and leased locations
- Assisted a Houston-based developer with the development and construction financing for a high-rise hotel and residential condominium on the San Antonio Riverwalk
- Represented a developer in the coordinated acquisition of multiple parcels from separate owners to comprise one combined tract to be developed, and coordinated with the Municipal Utility District as part of that development
- Represented numerous clients in easement disputes and easement negotiations with various municipalities and private utility companies
- Represented numerous clients with Texas business entity conversions, formations, and terminations, as well as the total and partial sale of private businesses
- Assisted with multiple real estate due diligence reviews on merger & acquisition matters valued in the tens of millions
- Represented the sellers of approximately 306 acres of land in southwest Houston to The University of Texas, which sale was named by Houston Business Journal as HBJ’s Deal of the Year winner for Education
- Represented clients on complete corporate restructuring and reorganization of affiliate entities and holding companies
