HOUSTON, TX – A Houston jury today awarded more than $89 million in damages to a Humble, Texas construction company in a five-year dispute against Williams Power Company, Inc.; Gulf Liquids New River Project, LLC.; and Winterthur International America Insurance Company.
The dispute centered on claims of breach of contract and fraud in connection with the design and construction of four Louisiana gas processing plants.
After a three-month jury trial, Humble, Texas-based Gulsby-Bay Plant Partners was awarded $4.3 million in actual damages and $85 million in punitive damages. Gulsby-Bay was represented by the Houston law firm of Andrews Myers, P.C., with lawyers Bill Andrews and Bill Davidson as Gulsby-Bay’s principal attorneys.
“This was a complex case, so we are pleased for our client that the jury responded so clearly to the presentation of the facts,” said Bill Andrews, shareholder for Andrews Myers, P.C..
Other plaintiffs in the case, Bay Limited, Gulsby Engineering and National American Insurance Company, were also awarded significant actual and punitive damages. The case was heard in the 215th District Court of Harris County, Texas.
