HOUSTON, TX – Top-ranked construction law firm Andrews Myers, P.C. announced the addition of William (Ben) Westcott as shareholder and Robert (Bob) Plessala as senior counsel.

Westcott’s practice focuses on construction law transactions and dispute resolution. He represents general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, owners and sureties on substantial construction projects, ranging from large public infrastructure and sports facilities to hospitals, retail centers and industrial plants.

Named a “Texas Rising Star” by Texas Monthly for four consecutive years, Westcott’s experience includes the prosecution and defense of a variety of construction-related issues before state and federal courts as well as the American Arbitration Association. He has handled matters related to mechanic’s liens, performance and payment bonds, differing site conditions, breach of contract, construction defect claims, general contractors and subcontractors, delay and acceleration claims, and termination of contracts.

A cum laude graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, Westcott is chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Legal Issues Committee and past chairman of the Houston Bar Association’s Construction Law Section. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas’ Young Lawyers’ Liason Construction Law Section, Associated General Contractors Young Constructors Forum, and Texas and Houston’s Young Lawyers Associations. Westcott received his undergraduate degree from Rice University with cum laude honors.

Plessala brings over two decades of experience in the area of trials and appeals to Andrews Myers, P.C.. He represents private and publicly traded corporations, public and private limited partnerships, and general partnerships as well as banks, school districts, and individuals. Plessala also has experience handling a variety of issues related to state and federal security laws, deceptive trade practices, fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder suits, construction claims, partnership disputes, civil conspiracy, tortious inference and claims involving state and federal constitutional issues.

Plessala’s litigation experience includes trying and appealing a wide variety of commercial cases in state and federal courts in Texas and 12 other jurisdictions. Of the 60 appeals he has handled, 30 have resulted in published and reported decisions.

A graduate of Texas Tech University School of Law, Plessala is a member of the Houston Bar Association.
